AN elderly pedestrian has suffered serious leg injuries after being knocked down by a car in a town centre.

The 85-year-old Richmond woman, was treated at Darlington Memorial Hospital for serious leg injuries after she was hit by a black Volvo at the top of the town's market square, near the obelisk, at 12.45pm on Tuesday, July 8.

Witnesses should call police on 101.
