A MAN with a crossbow who sparked a three-hour stand-off with armed police is undergoing medical checks after leaping from a window.
The incident in Rawson Street, Harrogate, ended at noon today (Thursday, July 17) when the man jumped from the window on a stairwell.
Police were alerted at around 9am to a "distressed" man in his fifties, who was seen throwing objects from the first floor of a flat.
Officers attended the address with North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
A cordon was placed around the property and police negotiators were called to the scene.
A police spokesman said: "He was not physically injured, but was taken to hospital for a mental health assessment.
"Police officers have seized a crossbow which was thrown from the window of the premises."
