POLICE have issued details of jewellery stolen during a Darlington burglary.

A ladies watch with a silver face and black leather strap and a silver ladies necklace with a fine chain featuring a large pearl pendant surrounded by a crown of false diamonds were among items stolen from a house on Mowden Terrace on Saturday, July 12.

A laptop featuring sentimental photographs, a wallet and mobile phones were also taken while the occupants slept.

Police believe entry to the property was gained between midnight on Saturday and 9am on Sunday, July 13 via an unlocked door.

PC Stew Walker said: ““It is very rare for a property to be burgled when the occupants are home, and understandably the victims in this case were left shaken. It would appear that a door was accidentally left unlocked on this occasion.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen someone in the rear alley of Mowden Terrace or Pendower Street during this time or anyone who has been offered any of these items to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Stew Walker on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
