A MAN charged with two counts of burgling the home of house fire victim Teresa Ryan has been remanded in custody.

David McCabe appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court this morning (Monday, July 14) charged with stealing a plasma television and two mobile phones.

The 32-year-old is accused of entering the victim's home in Warton Street, North Ormesby, Middlesbrough as a trespasser between July 1 and July 8.

Mr McCabe, of Barrington Crescent, Brambles Farm, Middlesbrough, is accused of entering the house for a second time on July 9.

A murder probe is continuing into the death of Ms Ryan, who was pronounced dead at the address just before midnight on Wednesday.

A 32-year-old man from Middlesbrough was arrested on suspicion of murder and bailed over the weekend.

A 28-year-old woman, also from Middlesbrough, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and was also bailed.

The defence solicitor at today's court hearing made no application for bail.

Judge Kristina Harrison remanded Mr McCabe in custody to appear before Teesside Crown Court on July 28.
