A MAN arrested in a police murder inquiry will appear in court this morning (Monday).

A 32-year-old man will appear before Teesside Magistrates Court charged with two counts of burglary at the North Ormesby home of Teresa Ryan.

The 50-year-old died on Wednesday night after a fire at her home in Warton Street, North Ormesby, near Middlesbrough. Police later confirmed they were treating her death as murder.

The Middlesbrough man, arrested on suspicion of her murder, has been released on bail and will appear in court in connection with two burglaries at Ms Ryan’s home.

A 28-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of burglary has been released on bail, pending further inquiries.

Ms Ryan's family have paid tribute to her.

In a statement they said: "Teresa was extremely proud of her two sons Steven and David.  "When she was younger she enjoyed clubbing, music and dancing and loved to socialise.

"Teresa was determined to keep her independence and live life to the full, despite her illness.

"We are all deeply traumatised by what has happened.  On the night she died we had been out for a meal as a family to celebrate her 50th birthday.  What was a happy celebration of a key milestone in her life has now turned out to be catastrophic and we are left wondering how and why this has happened.

"Only recently she had been talking about going away and was looking forward to a holiday abroad.  She has been taken far too soon; there is so much more she should be looking forward to.  She will be deeply missed by the whole family.

"We would like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time but we ask that we are allowed time to grieve in private."

Police say they are continuing to appeal for anyone with any information to contact them on 101 or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
