A MAN who tried to evade drug squad officers by jumping from a first floor window broke his ankle.

The incident happened in Eton Road, Middlesbrough on Thursday.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said members of the Drugs Enforcement Team

recovered a large cannabis farm with almost 300 cannabis plants contained in three rooms.

"A Vietnamese male jumped out of a first floor bedroom window on hearing police enter the house attempting to escape," she said. "However, he broke the heel to his left foot on landing and was detained.

"He has been arrested in connection with the production of a Class B drug. The farm is valued at at around £130,000.

"The male has been charged and remanded on bail."
