6:52pm Friday 11th July 2014 in News
POLICE are appealing for information after a laptop was stolen from a train.
A 49-year-old Middlesbrough woman had her bag stolen at Darlington railway station on Monday, June 30.
She left the bag – containing a £500 Samsung laptop – on a seat while waiting for her train and left it behind when she boarded her train to Thornaby on platform two at around 5.50pm.
British Transport Police (BTP) officers have now issued CCTV images of a man and a woman they want to talk to in relation to the theft.
The CCTV footage shows a group of two men, two women and two children getting off the same train at Darlington before leaving the station.
PC Ryan Griffiths of BTP in Darlington said: “Following the theft, subsequent checks with rail staff and lost property have been undertaken and sadly the laptop hasn’t been recovered.
“If anyone recognises the man or woman pictured, or has been offered a Samsung laptop for sale in suspicious circumstances then I would urge them to contact us.
“This incident serves as a reminder to all passengers of the importance of keeping an eye on valuables at all times when travelling.
“Thieves will seize on any opportunity, so always be aware of your surroundings.”
