DARLINGTON brothers are gearing up for a charity race.

Paul and Thomas Littleton will take part in an adrenaline-raising downhill mountain bike race next week.

The challenging ‘Megavalanche’ race, taking place in Alpe D’Huez, France, will see the brothers race down ski slopes and across meadows in a bid to raise funds for the Herriot Hospice Homecare charity, which provided support for their father.

Paul Littleton, manager of Darlington business Littleton IT, said: “The Megavalanche is both physically and mentally demanding and seemed like the perfect way to raise money for a charity that gave excellent care and support to our father when he was diagnosed with cancer.

“Being able to be at home and not in a hospital was so important to our father as it is for so many people facing the end of life.”

The Littleton brothers will take part in the race on Wednesday, July 9.

It will be their second time competing in the Megavalanche Downhill Mountain Bike Race, having taken part in 2012 to celebrate Thomas’ recovery from cancer.
