A YOUNG woman was attacked and repeatedly punched in the face as she walked along a city street in the early hours of today, June 16.

The 21-year-old was making her way along Farrar Street in York when she was approached by a man at about 2.20am.

He stopped and punched her in the face three times – leaving his victim with a cut to her eye although she did not need hospital treatment.

The attacker was described as olive skinned, possibly Middle Eastern or from eastern Europe, aged between 20 and 25-years-old, around 5ft 10in tall, well-built with dark hair, a round face and thick eyebrows.

He was wearing a pale-coloured long sleeved shirt with a pale vertically striped pattern on it and beige chinos.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or recognises the description of the man, to contact them with information.
