A CATTERY that takes in stray or abandoned animals is appealing for people to consider rehoming a cat as their facility reaches breaking point.

Sadberge Boarding Kennels and Cattery, near Darlington, has more than 30 cats of all ages, colours and sizes looking for new homes and has no space left to take any more animals.

The facility, on Middleton Road, is a private boarding centre for pets but takes in needy and vulnerable animals on a charitable basis.

Stacy Heys, from the cattery, said: “We are at a standstill and desperately need to find the cats we have some homes.

“We’ve got about 30 cats at the moment, although no kittens, and we can’t take any more until we free up some space. We are overrun.”

All cats rehomed from the cattery are neutered, wormed and given flea treatment. There is no charge for a cat although a donation is requested.

Anyone looking to rehome a cat can visit the cattery between 8am and 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday, and 8am to noon on Sundays.
