ONE hundred of Yorkshire’s most famous attractions and landmarks feature in a major new fund-raising effort in the run-up to the arrival of the Tour de France.

Marie Curie Cancer Care’s celebratory Grand Départ map, drawn by Yorkshire artist Tim Bulmer, is designed to be used as a sweepstake, to raise up to £100 a time for the charity’s work.

It is the official charity partner of the Grand Départ and the map was launched at the Jorvik Viking Centre in York, one of the many attractions featured.

“It was a pleasure to be able to use my artistic imagination for a cause like Marie Curie,” said Mr Bulmer.

“Every £100 raised from these maps funds a Marie Curie nurse to look after someone with a terminal illness for five hours.”

Copies can be requested by any individual, business or organisation. Participants simply pay £1 to have their name next to their chosen Yorkshire location. A prize draw can then offer either a cash prize, or one of the organisers’ choice.

Mr Bulmer: “I’d really encourage all Yorkshire businesses and organisations to get involved and request their own map to use with their own employees, customers or visitors.”
