A MAN who threatened to stab and shoot his parents before attacking three police officers has been jailed for 18 months.

In a statement to Teesside Crown Court, David Woodier's mother said he was a danger and added "he will kill someone".

The 21-year-old became violent after his father refused to let him sell his television to buy drugs.

Victoria Lambelle, prosecuting, said police were called after a drunken Woodier ranted: “I will stab you. I will shoot you. I will kill you all”.

She then described him as thrashing about and kicking in the direction of police officers who arrived at his home in Hemlington, Middlesbrough, on January 21 this year.

Woodier kicked out at two officers and spat at one. He then kicked out at another police officer when he arrived at the police station.

In a victim impact statement his mother said Woodier would arm himself with weapons including knives and a hammer during confrontations with his family when "under the influence of drugs.

She said: “I feel like a sitting duck. I believe he will kill someone and that will most likely be me.

“David is a danger to myself and everyone else.”

Sean Grainger, mitigating, said Woodier, of Fairfax Court, had received treatment for a heroin addiction and had little recollection of the assaults.

Mr Grainger claimed Woodier had “turned to god” after receiving help from a church group while in remand in prison and said the probation service had offered a chance for him to go on an anger management programme.

The Recorder of Middlesbrough, Judge Simon Bourne-Arton branded Woodier a dangerous individual and jailed him for 18 months in total.
