A UNIQUE seamless rubber flooring claims to provide the ultimate in cow comfort.

Quattro products have supplied rubber and resin products to the dairy industry for more than 25 years.

They have now come up with Flexscreed – a sealed rubber screed – which is said to provide more comfort and protection than loose rubber mats and rolls.

Hard-wearing, it does not go brittle or hard, and its seamless nature means there is no hygiene risk of bacteria or dirty water collecting underneath or at any edges.

Its anti-slip nature is said to be ideal for milking parlours, collecting yards and feed passages and Flexscreed features throughout the new dairy unit at Newton Rigg College, Penrith.

Designed as a centre of excellence, the rubber flooring has been laid throughout the parlour, races, yard, feed passageways and over concrete slats.

The system is fully bonded and sealed to all perimeters.

Specialist edging strips are available for doorways and for where the screed may end. Quattro also provided the Q/Tyle Wall System at the unit to provide the ultimate in hygiene and cow welfare.

The company claims Flexscreed is the only rubber flooring product that fully satisfies the hygienic requirements to the letter for parlour floor grant applications.

A health and welfare benefit is that it helps overcome foot problems of cows that are continually in contact with concrete.

The strength and hardwearing qualities have been proved with its fitting in Hyde Park Barracks 18 months ago. Giant shod horses standing 18hh and 19hh have failed to make it show any signs of wear.

Quattro say it has also been fitted in an elephant pen and will withstand tractors and scrapers in feed passageways.

In one instance, damage by a loader pole was confined to the localised hole.

Quattro provide a full supply and fit between milking and also supply it in kit form.
