WORK is underway on the latest upgrades at Middlesbrough’s Rainbow Leisure Centre.

Refurbishment work to the reception area and Rainbow Library started earlier this month (May) and is expected to take up to 11 weeks to complete.

The project will see the creation of an improved reception area with new entrance door to improve energy efficiency, installation of a new phone system to improve customer service and a remodelling of the Library to allow for increased opening hours.

The improvement work will have minimal impact on the existing Leisure Centre programme, with a small number of activities temporarily transferred to the neighbouring Manor Hub.

A temporary reception will be established in the ancillary hall for use by all customers while the work is carried out.

The library is currently closed and will remain so until the refurbishment is complete.

Councillor Tracy Harvey, Middlesbrough Council’s executive member for environment, said: “These latest exciting improvements will lead to improved customer service and a better overall visitor experience.

“I’d like to apologise to users for any inconvenience they may experience while this important work is carried out.”
