BACKERS of a multi-million-pound new livestock market complex in North Yorkshire, which could create up to 1,000 jobs, are hoping it will be approved in July.
The scheme, on the edge of Malton, has been submitted by Commercial Development Projects, the Malton and Ryedale Farmers Livestock Market Company Ltd and Fitzwilliam Trust Corporation.
CDP spokesman Charles Vyvyan said: “Now that the application has been submitted we will continue to work closely with all parties to deliver this exciting project.
“We have been encouraged by the support we have received and we will work hard to make sure this continues.
“The application submission was a key landmark to the development, but our design and professional team continue to liaise with local stakeholders, Ryedale District Council and the Local Enterprise Partnership to secure an approval for the plans to allow us to start work. This dialogue will continue throughout.”
The £17m plan, close to the junction of theA64 and A169 near Eden Camp, will feature a business park as part of the livestock market scheme, and 300 homes at the Showfield, Old Malton and Peasey Hill.
The lease on the present 80-year-old market in the centre of Malton is due to expire in July.
