PARENTS in the region are being urged to sign up their under-fives for the Barnardo’s Big Toddle 2014.

Events will take place across the North-East from June until late September.

A record number of playgroups, nurseries and families turned out for last year's toddles, which took place all over County Durham and Darlington and raised £17,600.

This year’s fancy dress theme is outer space.

Amanda Warrant, Barnardo’s North East fundraising manager, said; “For the past 18 years, children across County Durham and Darlington have amazed us with their enthusiasm and commitment to join in and help others.

"This year we thought we’d give little ones a chance to go to infinity and beyond and dress up as their favourite character associated with space."

Mrs Warrant added: “Every penny raised goes directly to our work with under-fives – so everyone can enjoy themselves and help raise vital funds for less fortunate children.”

Those who register receive a Big Toddle pack containing information and fundraising ideas.
