ONE of the world's most famous steam trains will be run on the Wensleydale railway this weekend as part of the Swaledale Festival celebrations.
4464 Bittern, built in 1937 at Doncaster for the London and North East Railway is an A4 steam locomotive made to the same design as the A4 Mallard by Sir Nigel Gresley.
It’s one of only six preserved from the era and one of three currently used on the mainline. The train will run from Leeming Bar on Saturday (May 24) at 9.30am, 1pm and 4.30pm.
A few tickets are still available through the Swaledale Festival website www.swaledale-festival.org.uk or, from Thursday, Wensleydale Railway at www.wensleydalerail.com.
