POLICE have confirmed the identity of a man whose body was recovered from the River Ouse in York last night (May 18).
The man has been named as Dr Mandeep Ahluwalia, who was reported missing from his home in the Heworth area of York on Friday (May 16).
Police issued an urgent appeal for information in helping find Dr Ahluwalia.
But at 8pm last night (Sunday, May 18) the Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Underwater Search Team recovered his body from the River Ouse, following a call from the public. The recovery took place where the waterway passes behind St Peter’s School playing fields near Bootham.
Dr Ahluwalia worked as a GP in the city and GP trainer and was also a hospital practitioner in dermatology.
