POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision in which a motorcyclist died on Friday afternoon.
The collision happened on the B1264 Toll Bar Garage to Yarm road at around 3.35pm on a bend close to Soursike Farm, near Hornby, North Yorkshire.
A silver Suzuki motorcycle heading towards Yarm was involved in a collision with an oncoming Volvo HGV towing a bulk-loader trailer.
The biker, from Redcar, east Cleveland, was believed to be travelling as part of a group but had been separated from the others at the time.
The lorry was in a convoy with another similar, large goods vehicle.
The motorcyclist, in his 30s, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene while the lorry driver was unhurt but suffered shock.
Police want to speak to anyone who saw the collision and anyone travelling along the B1264 in either direction and saw either of the vehicles before the crash occurred.
Witnesses are asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for the Major Collision Investigation Team at Thirsk, quoting incident number 12140078451.
The road was closed until around 10pm to allow collision investigators to examine the scene and recover the vehicles.
