DOGS Trust Darlington is appealing for a temporary foster carer for a dog that has recently undergone surgery to his tail.

Jim, a medium-sized crossbreed, was taken to the Sadberge rehoming centre about a month ago after being found as a stray.

He has had to have part of his tail removed and is urgently looking for a temporary foster home where he can recover away from kennel life.

Sue Embleton, rehoming centre manager, said: “If you’re an experienced dog owner, have lots of free time, and live locally to the rehoming centre, please get in touch if you can help.

“All dogs on the Home from Home scheme need to be cared for during the day and not left for longer than four hours – Jim is so friendly and cuddly but he needs to be constantly distracted from aggravating his tail injury.

“Ideally we’re looking for people who don’t have young children and no other dogs, to give his tail a chance to heal.”

Volunteer foster carers on the Dogs Trust Home from Home scheme receive full support and advice from the charity and will be equipped with everything they need such as food and bedding.

Any vets fees will also be covered by Dogs Trust.

Anybody interested in taking Jim on, or volunteering to be a dog foster carer, can contact the Darlington rehoming centre on 01325-333114.
