A FIFTY-YEAR-OLD autographed photograph of The Rolling Stones is expected to sell for hundreds of pounds when it comes under the hammer tomorrow (Thursday, May 15).

The five members of the band are pictured sitting on the grass in Finsbury Park, London, on September 9, 1964, the same year their eponymous debut album spent 12 weeks at the top of the charts.

The postcard photograph is being auctioned by Addisons, of Barnard Castle.

It is signed by all five Stones and is inscribed with date and location.

It carries an estimate of £300-£400 and is being sold with an ensign midget, model 22 pocket camera.

Senior auctioneer Richard Edwards said: “The Rolling Stones’ musical popularity has lasted more than 50 years and the band has a huge and loyal following.

“What makes this photo particularly interesting is that it shows them at the very start of their career.”

Also going under the hammer at the same sale is an album containing a collection of autographed photographs and postcards of film stars, including silver screen greats Lucille Ball, Flora Robson, Spencer Tracy and Clark Gable.

This carries a more modest estimate of £25 - £35.

The sale starts at 10am. For more details go to www.addisons-auctioneers.co.uk
