A TEENAGE chef has been given the chance to work alongside one of the world’s most famous culinary stars.
Middlesbrough College student Sam Harvey, 19, from Redcar, spent five days gaining work experience with famous French chef Raymond Blanc at the Belmond Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons hotel, in Oxfordshire.
Sam, a pastry chef, said: “It was an amazing experience and one that I’ll never forget; I learned a great deal while I was there.
“It’s an honour to have been selected from the thousands who apply each year and to have been given the opportunity to work with Raymond Blanc and his team of world-class chefs was a dream come true.”
Le Manoir was awarded two Michelin stars in 1985 and has retained them ever since.
Sam’s proud parents Jane and Neil visited Le Manoir while he was doing his work experience and the family photo album now includes pictures of Sam with Raymond Blanc, an array of exquisite desserts Sam helped create, and even a snap with TV baking royalty Mary Berry, who dropped in to the restaurant.
