A SINGLE stab wound is believed to have led to the death of a Middlesbrough man.

A murder enquiry is continuing following the death of the victim, who was in his 20s.

Police were called to The Greenway shortly after 11.30pm on Thursday where the man was found with serious injuries.

"He was taken to hospital but sadly pronounced dead a short time later," a spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said today.

"A post mortem examination carried out during the evening of Friday, May 9, has revealed the cause of death is likely to be a single stab wound. His death is being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing."

Searches are being carried out in the area around The Greenway.

"Police are particularly keen to trace anyone in The Greenway around the time of the incident and who may have seen anything," the spokeswoman added.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101."

  • A 19-year-old man and a 30-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident, are currently being questioned by police.
