ARCHAEOLOGY-themed events will be taking place alongside a First World War research excavation later this month.
The events in Colsterdale are part of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’s First World War Centenary project.
The University of York is undertaking archaeological research into the site of a First World War training camp and prisoner-of-war camp in Colsterdale.
And to enable the public to get involved, the AONB is putting on a family archaeology event on May 10 aimed at families with children.
A First World War archaeology talk by the University of York will also take place in Fearby Village Hall on May 18 , which offers the public a chance to hear about the findings of the archaeological research.
The events are part of a three- year lottery-funded project and all events are free but places are limited and need booking in advance. Visit nidderdaleaonb.org.uk/Pages/WW1-Events.aspx or contact Amanda Peacock on 01423-551664 or at amanda.peacock@harrogate.gov.uk
