A TWENTY minute walk is considered a step too far for more than a third of North Easterners, according to a YouGov survey.

The research found that 37 per cent of people in the region would not consider walking for more than 20 minutes when planning a journey.

It also revealed that only 39 per cent are walking more than the recommended amount - 150 minutes of moderate of exercise a week - and almost a third of North East adults are only walking an average of an hour or less per week.
