THREE extra spectator hubs will be set up in York for live screenings of the Tour de France.
As the 20,000 tickets to watch the start of the second stage of this year’s race at York Racecourse have sold out, City of York Council has moved to offer additional viewpoints at Monk Stray, York Designer Outlet and Rowntree Park.
Councillor Sonja Crisp said entry to the spectator hubs, which will open from 8am on July 5 and 6 would offer the elite cycling action live on giant screens.
Activities at the spectator hubs will include fairs, a cycle stunt show, bike decorating and live acts such as a military wives choir.
