A CASTLE has held its 14th annual display of orchids.

The Annual Orchid Show was held at Raby Castle near Staindrop, County Durham, over the weekend and Bank Holiday.

Visitors could to talk to the experts, attend lectures and demonstrations for advice on how to make the most of their orchids.

Dr Richard Warren, co-organiser of the show and a member of the British Orchid Growers Association, said: “Our aim is to illustrate reliable types of orchids that people can grow on their own window sills or in their own gardens.

“We encouraged visitors to bring their problem orchids along to the show, where we can offer advice and guidance".

The show, which is considered one of the most significant orchid displays in the region, was attended by numerous sellers and groups including The North East of England and Darlington Orchid Societies and the Orchid Society of Great Britain.
