A TEENAGE beauty queen has revealed her plan to win the Miss England title by impressing judges with her vocal talents.

Ellie Mae Potter, whose mother runs Samantha Moore Academy of Performing Arts, in Stockton, overcame competition from ten rivals to be crowned Miss York.

The 18-year-old, who competed with Teesside-based girl group The Dollys in the north of England and Scotland final of Sky's Live and Unsigned in 2012, qualified for the competition after moving from Norton to York.

She has previously tasted success by being cast in the 2010 Kiera Knightley film Never Let Me Go.

Miss Potter said she hopes her passion for singing will give her the edge in the talent round when she competes in Miss England finals in Torbay next month.

She said: “I was completely overwhelmed when they announced the winner.

“I could not speak at all. I could not believe it and can’t thank everyone enough. I am very excited about the year ahead and will do all I can to bring the Miss England crown to York.”
