A Wensleydale-based meat company has built on the success of its products with Asda.

Yorkshire Dales Meat Company YDMC products were first listed with Asda last summer and their success has led to the supermarket giant rolling the products out across ten more stores in the north.

These include Stockton and Hartlepool in the north east.

The YDMC farm is based near Patrick Brompton village near Bedale and has been farmed by the Knox family for over 100 years.

TOP TRAINING: A North East restaurant manager travelled to London to learn tricks of the trade from top chefs and a TV personality.

Owen Gooding, manager of The Orangery at Rockliffe Hall in Hurworth, spent a week training at the prestigious Galvin at Windows restaurant on London’s Park Lane.

Its general manager is Fred Sirieix who stars in BBC2's Michel Roux’s Service series and Mr Gooding spent time working as a bar and restaurant host, food runner and waiter.

GUILTY PLEASURES: A poll has found that North East residents spend an average £66 per month on junk food, with chocolate being most popular.

Meanwhile, Yorkshire and Humberside residents chose fish and chips as their favourite junk food, with residents spending an average of £62.31 on unhealthy food per month.
