A NORTH-EAST pub will be celebrating the Best of British over the Bank Holiday weekend, with its 22nd annual beer festival.

The Crown Inn, in Manfield, near Darlington, will hold a fundraiser for St Teresa's Hospice as part of the festival, which runs from Friday (May 2) until Bank Holiday Monday.

Union Flag bunting will be used to decorate the pub and a range of English ales will be on offer to tempt punters' palates.

Extra parking will be provided and there will be bifferent food and music on each day of the festival.

Pie and peas will be served from 5pm on Friday followed by an open mic night to kick-start the weekend.

On Saturday roast pork buns and English scones with cream and jam are available from noon and in the evening fish and chips will be served.

The evening’s entertainment is 1970s R&B group Casual Slacks.

The pub will be open all day on Sunday, with food available from midday.

Afternoon entertainment will be music from up and coming bands that will be playing live.

The 18th Century inn will resume its normal menu on Monday.
