DISABLED young people who are about to make the transition into adulthood are being invited to an event that will showcase some of the support available to them.

Your Future, Your Choice is organised by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council and takes place from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, May 1, in Tuned In! Majuba Road, Redcar.

Young people, their families and their carers are invited to meet representatives from a range of organisations covering issues like health, social care, employment, training, housing and transport.

Public sector, voluntary and community organisations from in and around the area are expected to be in attendance. Sheelagh Clarke, the council’s cabinet member for health and social wellbeing, said: “The transition into adulthood is an exciting time for any young person but one that is naturally going to give rise to some anxieties.

“This event seeks to address some of the issues facing young people with disabilities and will hopefully allay some of the common concerns.”

Anyone who is unable to attend the free drop-in event, aimed at young people aged 13 to 25, can call 01642-304500 at any time for advice.
