OFF-road bikes and an air rifle have been seized by police in a targeted operation in east Middlesbrough at the weekend.
During the eight hour Cleveland Police operation in Grangetown and Eston on Sunday (April 27), officers seized three quad bikes, one motorbike and an air weapon.
Three males aged, between 15 and 30, have also received court summons for motoring offences and discharging a firearm in a public place.
The local areas have been plagued by the use of off-road bikes, particularly on residential roads and playing fields, police said.
Barry Plumpton, Greater Eston Neighbourhood Inspector, said: “This operation was the direct result of residents’ concerns that were expressed to us during consultations with the local community.
“We would like to thank the local residents for coming forward with relevant information relating to the issue. Off road bikes can be very dangerous, especially when those that can reach high speeds are being driven in areas where children play.
“Those who choose to drive these vehicles in an illegal manner should be aware that we will seize them and take the appropriate action.”
