DOCTOR Who and his companions will be revealing what he is really like when the tardis touches down in Middlesbrough this summer.
Actors Paul McGann (eighth incarnation), Colin Baker (sixth incarnation) along with companions including Sophie Aldred and Louise Jameson will be among a who’s who of famous faces from the iconic BBC science-fiction show which first aired 51 years ago.
The Shadow Proclamation convention is being held at Middlesbrough Town Hall over the weekend of Saturday, August 23, and Sunday, August, 24, with ticket prices starting at £50.
BBC Tees presenter, Doctor Who fan and author of ‘Wiffle Lever to Full!: Daleks, Death Stars and Dreamy-eyed Nostalgia at the Strangest Sci-fi conventions’, Bob Fischer, said: "I’m sure I’ll be at the convention, as they’re always great fun. It’ll be lovely to see Paul McGann in particular, as he’s enjoyed a TV comeback as the Doctor recently.
"He surprised everyone by playing his doctor again in a prequel to the 50th anniversary special last year, and did a superb job on it.
"It’ll be fascinating to hear him chatting about the story behind all that."
The event is being organised by life-long fan and owner of Generation Productions, Graeme Parry, from Ormesby, Middlesbrough, who said his aim was to give visitors the best customer experience.
“It is an opportunity for local Who fans to meet with, and hear the stories of the stars of the tv show and have their personal items signed without the usual hassle of having to travel the length and breadth of the country,” he added.
