A FORMER Middlesbrough striker who achieved great success in the USA will talk about his Christian journey in the North-East next month (Sunday, May 18).

Alan Willey played for Boro from 1974 to 1976 but spent most of his career in the United States.

He was the second highest all-time goalscorer in the North American Soccer League (NASL) and is a member of the US National Soccer Hall of Fame.

The Houghton-le-Spring born forward, who was known as The Artful Dodger, will address Good Word Ministries church, 15-16 City West Business Park, Langley Moor, near Durham, on Sunday, May 18, at 10.30am.

England international Kieran Richardson attended the church while playing for Sunderland.

Mr Willey’s wife, Lori, will speak at a church women’s event on Friday, May 23, at 9.30am and 7pm and Saturday, May 24, at 7pm.
