POLICE believe witnesses to an assault in which a man suffered a fractured cheekbone when he was punched in the face could hold the key to their enquiries.
The man, who is in his early twenties, was in Tintern Avenue, Darlington, when he was approached by a man who punched him twice.
The incident happened at around 9pm on Sunday, March 30 and the victim was taken to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, for treatment.
PC Steve Constantine said: “We believe a number of people witnessed this assault and I would urge them to come forward with information which could help with our enquiries.”
A 23-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and bailed pending further enquiries.
