FORMER air traffic controller Heather Whetnall is raising money for Help for Heroes with a tandem sky dive.

Ms Whetnall, from Bedale, who was in the RAF for 19 years decided to help the good cause after leaving the RAF last year.

She has parachuted once before in 1984 when she was 22, and decided now is the time for another go.

“I left 30 years between the two jumps," she said. "I did it from 12,000 feet in glorious sunshine at Peterlee Airfield. It was good fun and I am just hoping people may want to support this good cause."
