A DARLINGTON trombonist has played her way into the record books by completing the London Marathon whist performing with a brass band.
Natalie Davies, 20, of Firthmoor Crescent, finished the course with the Huddersfield Marathon Band and their efforts secured them the Guinness World Record for fastest marching band in a marathon.
The band, who first broke the record in 2011 before a German military band claimed it, completed the course in six hours 57 minutes, going no longer than 30 seconds between tunes.
They have so far raised more than £60,000 for the charity Sense and the National Deafblind and Rubella Association.
Natalie, who used a lightweight red plastic trombone during the marathon, is studying in her final year for her Bachelor of Music at the University of Huddersfield and has played the trombone since primary school.
