A DOG which was in the back of his owner's car when it was stolen has been found following a search by police.

The black cocker spaniel called Quinn was in a grey Ford Mondeo stolen from West Tanfield, between Bedale and Ripon at 3pm on Monday (April 14).

North Yorkshire Police arrested a man in Leeds in connection with the theft.

Quinn and the stolen Ford Mondeo were found in Ripon today (Tuesday, April 15).

The dog was taken to a vet's surgery for a check up.
