A RURAL visitor centre will spring back into life on Bank Holiday Monday when it kicks off a new events season with a traditional Easter fun day.

Taking full advantage of the surrounding woodland, the Bowlees Visitor Centre in Upper Teesdale, County Durham, is holding an old-fashioned Easter egg hunt, which challenges entrants to follow a trail of clues to win a prize.

Inside the centre, there will be lots of different activities for children and adults, including Easter egg decorating, bunny mask making and seasonal salt dough decorations.

Willow artist Ruth Thompson, from Sylvan Skills in Hexham, will be at the centre all day giving visitors the chance to make their own creations; while Malcolm Walton, from Bowlees Farm, will be showcasing some cute newborn lambs in the field next to the centre.

There will also be tasty treats on offer throughout the day.

Admission for children, which includes all activities and materials, is £3. Adults go free.

The event will run from 10am until 4pm on Monday, April 21.
