MORE than 20 artists and craftspeople from around the region will take part in a two-day market over Easter.

The Designer Makers Market is being held at The Witham, Barnard Castle, on Good Friday and Easter Saturday, from 10am to 4pm.

Organiser Kathryn Guy said the emphasis would be on contemporary work of gallery quality.

The event will also feature demonstrations by some of the craftspeople, with opportunities for the public to have a go.

Among those taking part will be Michael Kusz, who makes sculptures from recycled copper.

Ms Guy, who designs and makes textile jewellery, added: “It’s really exciting to be bringing all these extremely talented people together in this wonderful new venue.”

Also on display will be outfits made by young people from Teesdale for a Trashion Show which took place last month at The Hub.

Admission is free, but any donations will go to St Teresa’s Hospice. For more information and a list of stallholders go to www.designermakersmarket.co.uk
