RESIDENTS are being urged to look out for suspicious activity around schools after vandals struck at the beginning of the Easter holidays.

Police believe witnesses may have seen a rendered wall at Thirsk School and Sixth Form College being covered in a purple substance between last Friday (April 4) and Monday (April 7).

Officials at the school, on Topcliffe Road in Sowerby, said the wall would need to be repainted.

Police have called on residents in the area to support the force’s School Watch scheme and report any suspicious incidents during the holidays.

Anyone with information about the vandalism should call police on 101, email nigel.warby@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555-111.
