THE starting point for County Durham’s revived motorcycle Easter Egg Run has been confirmed as the Tesco store at Dragonville, Durham.

The annual event, which had been organised by Durham police since 2005, was axed by the force this year due to cuts in the motorcycle unit’s resources and manpower.

However, Hartlepool biker Tony Hudspith is forging ahead with organising a replacement run and has been given permission by bosses at Dragonville Tesco to start it from the car park.

Mr Hudspith said: “This is great news indeed and after speaking with the hospitals they are very pleased we are still continuing the event which brings so much joy to the children.”

Bikers should meet on Easter Sunday, April 20, at the Dragonville Tesco at 10am for a 10.30am start.

The ride will visit Darlington Memorial Hospital and the University Hospital of North Durham in Durham.

Updates and further information will be posted on the facebook page Durham Easter Egg Run 2014.
