A SCOUT group in Darlington, raising money for good causes, has received a welcome fundraising boost from a car dealership.

The 12th Darlington Scout Group holds a range of fundraising events throughout the year and will host a family quiz night this month to raise more money.

To help boost their appeal, Northallerton-based car dealership, Simon Bailes Peugeot, is sponsoring the event and paying for the hire of the room for the event Managing director Simon Bailes said: “The scouting movement is something close to my heart and I remember my years as a youngster with them very fondly.

“I was really impressed with the group’s enthusiasm for fundraising and the initiative they’ve shown in working to get local sponsors.

“I’m pleased we can help them out to raise as much money as possible on the night of their quiz.”

The scout group meets weekly at Elm Ridge Church Hall, offering a range of physical and intellectual challenges and events for girls and boys aged six to 14.

Scout leader Roy MacDougall added: “Our group works really hard to organise fundraising activities and it can be quite tough to get community support in the current economic climate.

“We’re grateful that Simon Bailes Peugeot has agreed to sponsor our quiz as this means that everything we raise goes towards charity.”
