DOZENS of visitors browsed antiques and vintage goods at the first Chic Vintique fair in Barnard Castle.

About 290 people visited the event in The Witham, which featured 20 stall holders from across the North-East and North Yorkshire, selling items such as antiques, collectables, vintage and retro goods, jewellery, arts, crafts, books and gifts.

Bridget Moore, from BR Events, which organised the fair said: “It is a win-win situation because many of the dealers also bought things from the market at Barnard Castle so it is helping to boost the local economy.

“This is a really nice comfortable, cosy fair and overall it has been a success.

“A lot of the traders have already re-booked for next month.”

The Chic Vintique event also runs in Richmond town hall, in North Yorkshire, on the first Tuesday of every month, and Stockton three times a year.

It will run in Bedale for the first time in June.

The next event in Barnard Castle takes place on Wednesday, May 7.
