RIFLES and raspberries will be on the menu when the UK’s largest ladies clay shooting group launches in Teesside.

To encourage more women to take up the sport The Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club is holding an event in Stockton for novices which is topped off with afternoon tea.

Founder of the national organisation Victoria Knowles-Lacks, said: “Absolutely everyone is welcome to come along and try out this Olympic gold medal sport, and we guarantee you’ll hit some clays’.

“Once the shooting is over, the girls regroup for a well earned cup of tea and slice of cake, served on beautiful old china. Scorecards are counted up and prizes are presented to our highest scorers, and the all important rosette goes to the best cake.”

It is taking place at JC Marsh Shooting Ground, Elton Moor Farm on Darlington Back Lane in Stockton on Saturday, May 24, from 10am to 2pm.

No experience is necessary to take part in the day which costs £47.50 inclusive of 30 cartridges, 30 clays, gun hire, insurance, protective equipment and cake.
