A GROUP developing plans for a new sports arena is hoping to recruit more people to the project.
The Prince Bishop Community Stadium group aims to draw up plans for facilities on disused land at Copeland Lane, Evenwood, near Bishop Auckland.
The group was launched earlier this year and while office bearers have been appointed, secretary Richard Wigham said more people interested in bringing the project to fruition were needed.
If successful, facilities for harness racing, indoor cricket, softball, fencing, archery and activities for disabled athletes would be developed.
“We are looking for more trustees and also representatives from disabled sports groups as well as younger people,” said Mr Wigham.
The group's next meeting will take place at the Eden Arms, West Auckland, on Tuesday, April 8, starting at 7.30pm.
Anyone interested is welcome to go along or call Mr Wigham on 07814-324444.
