AN exhibition featuring more than 100 photographs by students at Catholic schools will be opened on Wednesday (April 2).
The schools of the Hexham and Newcastle Catholic Partnership - including Carmel College, Darlington - are exhibiting photographs taken by students in Years seven, eight and nine.
Inspired by natural forms, structures, movement, portrait, faith as well as fashion, the abstract and landscape photographs capture the beautiful and the modern and document a young person’s perspective.
The exhibition is taking place at the National Glass Centre, in Sunderland.
A partnership spokeswoman said: “Exhibiting work at the iconic National Glass Centre is a highlight for the partnership.
“Not only is the venue inspirational to young photographers but as part of the University of Sunderland, it is at the forefront of glass research and staff and facilities are internationally-recognised.”
The exhibition will be formally opened at 6.30pm by Maura Regan, vice-chairwoman of the Catholic Partnership and Graeme Thompson, dean for the arts, design and media at the University of Sunderland.
All photographic entries were judged by Susan Coles, president of National Society for Educational Art and Design and John Kippin, professor in photography at the university of Sunderland.
There will be prizes for the winning entries.
Parents, teachers and the wider school community have been invited to this exhibition and more than 300 attendees are expected.
