A CHARITY ball to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support and When You Wish Upon a Star will take place on Friday, April 5.

NHS North Yorkshire and Humber Commissioning Support Unit is hosting the ball at York Racecourse to raise money for the organisations, including a small charity working to grant the wishes of children with life threatening illnesses.

The support unit has raised more than £5,000 from a number of fundraising activities over the past year, including dress-down days, a Spinathon, Strictly Come Dancing, an X factor sweepstake and a Race Night.

Maddy Ruff, managing director at NYH CSU said: “We are committed to involving patients and communities in the work we do as well as supporting patients and communities through fundraising activities.

“We are delighted to be hosting this event as an integral part of our fundraising calendar to raise money for such fantastic charities, whose values really fit with ours.

“The charity ball at York Racecourse is set to be a great evening; guests will be entertained by The Casino band and disco and will have the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes.

"A range of local businesses and partners have generously donated some valuable prizes, not least a trip on the Northern Belle Orient Express, for which we are extremely grateful.

“We hope we’ll raise a good amount for such worthwhile causes.”
