BUDDING sports coaches enjoyed a skills workshop from a medal-winning former boxer.
Student sports leaders from Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, Polam Hall School and Carmel College, in Darlington, benefited from a visit from Amanda Coulson on Monday (March 31).
Ms Coulson, from Hartlepool, first represented England in 2004, winning silver medals in three European Union championships.
She has also been to two world championships and won four senior domestic titles.
After retiring from boxing in 2012, she became a coach and has decided to help support aspiring coaches and volunteers.
The workshop, at Mowden Park Rugby Club, included tips on how to plan and organise coaching sessions for people of all ages and abilities.
Students also benefited from Ms Coulson’s experience of working alongside some of the world’s best boxing coaches.
