POND dipping, crafts, archery and indoor climbing is being held at Summerhill Country Park in Hartlepool during the Easter holidays.

The programme begins with pond-dipping for all ages on Thursday, April 10, from 10.30am to noon followed by junior archery for youngsters aged 11 and over on the same day from 2pm to 4pm.

Each of the activities costs £4.60 for Active Card members, £5.75 for non-members and £3.45 for concessions.

CHARITY FAIR: Middlesbrough Soroptimists, a local women’s group, is holding a fair on Saturday 5th April from 10am until 11.30am in St. Margaret’s Church Hall, The Oval, Brookfield, Middlesbrough. There will be stalls from various charities support of Soroptimist charitable work in an Indian village, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Justice First and Water Aid. Tickets, to include tea or coffee and biscuit, cost £1 on the door.

POETRY READING: A night of poetry is planned to celebrate World Book Night in Middlesbrough. The town’s library service has teamed up with Teesside University to host the free event at the Baker Street Kitchen, located on the corner of Baker Street and Albert Road. Stockton poet Mark Robinson will perform from his collection How I Learned To Sing and also talk about his work at the café between 7pm-9pm on Wednesday, April 23. The book of poetry was chosen as a Read Regional title for 2014, a campaign which celebrated local writers, and there will be a free copy for all who attend, while stocks last.

DOG CHIPS: A free dog microchipping event is being held at Middlesbrough’s Albert Park on Saturday, April 5. The session, in partnership with the Dogs Trust, the Middlesbrough and District Dog Training Association and Albert Park Dog Walkers, is taking place at Albert Park Pavilion from 11am to 3pm. Dog owners will also be offered free training advice, demonstrations and the opportunity to enrol on canine courses. Microchipping will become compulsory for all dogs from April 6, 2016.
